An important goal of the Lutheran Partners CPE Center is to enrich, enhance and supplement spiritual and pastoral care in participating partner clinical sites.

Once the clinical site is agreed, the educational component of our program begins. The primary learning in our program takes place in small groups.

Three hundred clinical (or ministry) hours are required for one unit of CPE, divided into number of weeks per unit.

When a clinical site is chosen, we put an official agreement in place that establishes the setting as an approved clinical site. This agreement will be signed by an administrator or the individual who has oversight of the student’s work and ministry. Also, each site will have a preceptor who will offer our students orientation, a ministry schedule, and on-going oversight of the setting’s procedures and policies.
We’ve had students placed with clinical sites throughout United States. Some of the sites included: nursing homes, hospitals, prisons, shelters, social agencies, military, congregations and other communities in need of pastoral care. Most of our clinical sites are one-time placements for specific students. We also have partner sites, which place students in their facilities on ongoing basis. (see below) Besides New York area, we continue to develop more partner sites in other states. We can discuss the site placement options during an interview.
